THE LONG EYE

Why must this eye look at me,
For I have done nothing wrong.
Yet, the blame placed upon me
From this eye stands for so long.

When I move or make my eye wink,
The eye remains.
The eye will never blink,
And there is nothing left to gain.

Why has God chosen to watch over me?
I am a simple man, not rich or poor,
I wish to be alone, so please let me be.
Watching me will be a great chore.

For the eye will never move,
And forever will it stay
Gazing upon me, for my hopes I will lose.
I do not see it another way.

Shall I look at this another way?
For I will have some company
And someone to talk to
When I drink a cup of tea.
